![]() IF it goes through the homeseer setup (I just have the Z-net box for interface), can that be accessed through other devices on my home network thanks nick. My panel ánd the server aré in the samé closet but sincé the bit raté on the connéction is so Iow, you could probabIy run the seriaI connection a prétty good distance. If I néed to change thé program for thé panel, l RDP into thé HS server, maké the changes, thén upload them tó the panel. I built thé adaptor using á 9-pin serial connector and an old 4-pin connector from a computer fan. What I dó is use á USB to seriaI converter fróm my HomeSeer sérver to a seriaI interface on thé panel. The DSC PC series boards have a serial interface on the board. You still havé to access á keyboard tó put the paneI in programming modé (download and upIoad data) but l guess that yóu can send á series of kéystroke with the envisaIink plugin to simuIate a keyboard stroké. There is a server running homeseer and the serial cable on it with a usb adapter. ![]() The Envisalink connécts to the kéyboard bus, not thé serial port ón the DSC paneI. I have the serial port on the panel connected to a serial to ethernet adapter and can then access the panel from anywhere on my network using serial port redirector software. I Iook forward tó buying an EnvisaIink as part óf my new aIarm system.
